Lunge lessons with no stirrups and a good instructor who is sympathetic to you and the horse. Difficulty with sitting trot often begins when rider is unbalanced therefore horse not fluid through the back causing tension, causing the trot to be bouncy. when your bottom hits the saddle it's like rubber on rubber and your general position goes to pot. Where are you based?

I think there was a post a few days ago on this subject, might be worth having a flick back a few pages and seeing if you can find it, as you may come across some useful advice/suggestions.

A few things to try
- don't go on and on if it isn't working, better 3 good strides than 12 bad
- alternate sitting and rising frequently, start with just one stride sitting (like to change diagonals) then some rising. After a few goes sit for three beats, then for four etc, etc
- no stirrups
- (in halt) push one knee up in front of you tucking foot up towards derriere, then extend leg back without lowering foot (much). You should find your leg is behind the correct position. Lastly 'swing' it (slowly!) back to the correct place. Repeat a few times on each leg if you have a tolerant horse
- try rising without stirrups (forces leg to remain still and great for inner thighs!)
- smile!

oh pants thats a shame. if you were closer I'd have offered lessons! Well good luck with it and everything! but lunge lessons are great, a good few years ago I trained on a dressage yard and had a lunge lesson every day for 3 months as well as doing other things and now i can sit to anything, highly recommend it!

Thanks for the tips will try all of them

it sounds like you are gripping!

you need to sit back slightly and dangle you'r legs like a sack of potatos are attached to them.
