Six Horses dumped in 2 months

Absolutley disgusting...

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ] RSPCA inspector Vikki Dawe said: "It's obviously distressing for the people that find them, and from our point of view what we are really concerned about is what happens to the horses before they end up in the situation where they are found.

"We don't know whether they are in a bad condition, whether they have been suffering, whether they have received any veterinary treatment before they died."

Erm... that appears to be a no......

There was another post earlier same subject
It happens more than people think. We were called out to one - thought we were going to a live horse.
There was a distinct lack of interest from the authorities.
People do it to get out of paying to have the body removed.
I could say a lot on this subject. We did do something although it was upsetting but received no back up.
The foal had broken its leg travelling, but how did it die? It was not apparantly a welfare issue because it was dead!

A friend of mine was asked recently to write an article for the local paper about this subject as several horses were found in the area dead, tied to lamp posts and trees and people assumed they'd starved to death and/or been mutilated as their ears/eyes were missing

In fact, they'd been transported in the back of vans or on lorries, a rope tied round their neck and then the van/lorry driven away quickly causing them to be dragged out of the van in one easy move.

Foxes apparently chew on their ears and crows peck their eyes out...

Think the horses in question were found around the Brands Hatch area where there are a lot of traveller sites and 'meat ponies' being kept on common land and the like.

Horrible way to treat an animal in death, and not even looking after them in life.
