What size stirrup irons should I be looking at getting?

I keep meaning to measure the ones at the yard, but everytime I go I forget the tape measure (3 weeks now!)
Plus the ones at the yard i've been borrowing are too small. They are more for a size 3 foot, whereas im a size 5.

Same here. I have size 6 boots and have 4 1/2" irons (apart from a 'winter' set I have in a chunky 5" so I can ride in my muck boot riding boots, but I am paranoid about having enough space!). 4 1/2" gives enough room to be safe, but doesn't look big or chunky I think.
