I have a 13hh cob with feathering.
I was hoping to buy some turnout/mud boots to protect them from getting big burnt over winter so they’re nice for show season!
She’s pony size in everything, should I go for cob size ?
Anyone had these on their similar size cobs?

Forget the boots and give them a good dose of pig oil a few times a week over winter. The boots will make the legs itchy and sweat. A good layer of pig oil will repel the worst of what the winter has to offer.
 
EKW is right. Pig oil is fabulous. Mine doesn't have too much feather so I only had to apply it once or twice a week. I massaged it through like hair conditioner. His legs were never cleaner!

ETA. If you get pig oil and sulphur, patch test first and always shake it up before use. Putting it in a fairy liquid type, squeezy bottle makes it easier to use.
 
I can't imagine how turnout boots would work on a proper feathered cob, the only boots that have ever been on my cob are travel boots and I soon gave up on them. People I know who have used boots for protection for jumping etc on a feathered cob have trimmed off the feathers in order to do so.

I think any boots put on over full feathers will be too hot, very itchy and generally horrible for the pony. I would also be worried about the impact of over-heating on the tendons. Plus I expect it would probably just rip them off (I know mine would, the one time he was bandaged (stabled) he had them off within 10 mins). I also doubt they would make any difference to bog burn since IME it just causes the hair below the hoof line to snap off, which presumably won't be covered by the boots.
 
I wouldn't leave boots on a feathered cob for turnout. Besides being hot and itchy I would think the hair would be rubbed away and goodness knows what sort of skin infections would thrive underneath.
 
One of the horsewear companies on Facebook make turnout boots for heavily feathered ponies, they are more loosely fitting to compensate I forget who but if you ask on the cob or coloured groups someone will know
