I got my beautiful 10yr old 14.2hh Connemara X pony just under 3 months ago now and he means the world to me, I love him so much already. My plan was to keep him forever, for as long as he lives.
The problem is I'm a good 5ft 8! and I just look so big on him, I hadn't noticed until I saw pictures of myself. I wasn't too bothered but everyone points out how "huge" I look on him every time I ride. I was even approached today and told I should ride him because it was cruel.
I never thought of it like this? At just over 8 and half stone so I don't think I'm to heavy? He'll take my riding instructor (an adult man) around a decent sized course with complete ease.
I don't feel too big for him at all, in fact far from it! He feels perfect and I don't notice his size when I'm up there, and it doesn't seem make a difference in anything we do . I've never felt the way I do when I ride him, in a good way though! I don't think there will ever be another horse like him, I know it sounds cheesy but we just click.
I love so so much, he's perfect for me. He's everything I want and more. I trust him completely, doing anything and anywhere. He's just amazing!
I don't want to sell him, I never will. It would break my heart. I just want your opinions on matters if size???
This was my first ride as horse and owner, I know the saddle is too small for me in this picture, but it's the best view to really see the size difference. (We are in the process of getting a new saddle!)
