Size of poles for showjumping

Most standard competition poles are 3.5m long by 100mm diameter, but you can also get poles at 3m (and smaller). Personally, as I have a smaller arena the majority of my poles are 3m with a couple of longer ones for building decent cross poles.

Good comment by f ^^ personally i like a pole as wide as possible (4.5 or 5.0) as it helps prevent young horses from running out , helps with X poles and using as wing poles to get horses to the centre line , but you then need a big areana or only 2 or 3 jumps to school with at a time.
