I am currently loaning a neue schule bit off a friend which my horse is going fabby in so I want to buy one. However the bit she has lent me when looking on the NS website has small rings and they call it a bradoon - the standard snaffle has much bigger rings. I just wondered what the impact of the difference in size would be on the action of the bit (exactly the same mouthpiece)? Not sure whether to buy the 'bradoon' which I have borrowed or the standard size? Also, are there any limits on ring size for eventing or dressage? (mouthpiece is a lozenge snaffle)
Thanks!

I think the only difference with a bradoon is that is is generally smaller and thinner than a 'normal' loose ring snaffle, and with smaller bit rings, to accommodate the curb part of the double bridle bit, so they don't clank together.

I like bradoons as they're small and neat, but if there's a possibility that you'll pull the bit rings through his mouth, I'd go for the 'normal' snaffle bit.

The bradoon rings are 55mm so not too small, and mouthpiece is same diameter on bradoon and standard snaffle so not a problem. Am just worried if I get the bigger ringed snaffle it wont be the magic bit it is at the moment!!
