Size? Talent? Looks?? what does it for you with a horse??

something that walks well - good free loose walk that overtracks and is effortless (my first horse had a horrible short walk - never ever again !)

must be a loving temp - something I can go and tell my problems to and will give the impression of listening even if they aren't

mare or gelding - not fussed

not a cob and nothing taller than 16hh but happy with either a horse or a pony

can spook, be strong, be a bit silly but mustn't buck or rear and must be good in traffic and sensible to box

not bothered about jump but attitude enough to do some dressage

must have good feet, be good with farrier (as they are like golddust and don't want to upset them) and be sound and able to be ridden alone or in company

When I first met Cinn, I still knew practically nothing about horses apart from a bit on riding. So I just loved him for him, everything about him, his looks (exceptionally cute but can do the posh thing when he wants), his temperament (always patient with me, which was quite something for him!). I can't really explain it properly! Haha

, so because of who he is is why I love him so much even when he wasn't mine.
So, for me its the horse that matters rather than looks, saying that though, I would never own a horse chunkier than him, as keeping him tidy is hard enough work

A forward going, 3/4 Welsh D x 1/4 TB black, bay or chestnut mare or gelding.

Forward going and fiesty with a good pop and a love for XC/fast hacks.
Something that wants to learn and is a bit cheeky with it.

I've yet to find my "Dream horse" but i have known/do know a few that are far from perfect for me, but will never ever be matched.

Something that wants to be with me & has that certain something that makes me want him. Jim has it in spades - he wasn't what I was looking for (I saw him purely by accident) but from the moment I saw him I couldn't get him out of my head. Although in theory he's totally wrong for me (too big, too sharp, too unpredictable) & limits what I do I can cheerfully forgive him it because I can't imagine being without him. I even bought a youngster last year to keep him company - ironically I think he's going to be a far more suitable riding horse for me but athough he's lovely I just don't feel the same about him.

and speaking of mum, must have a great pedigree too (sorry - Arab people are obsessed with this)!

But above all a sweet nature and charming, playful, happy character!

Looks and personality. I am a bit vain and would only buy a horse that I thought was good-looking, they have to have a nice head, be well put together and move nicely. They also have to have something about them, I like characters - cheeky, opinionated, fun and friendly. I want a horse that I look forward to spending time with, that enjoys my company but isn't dopey or stupid. I like intelligent horses that think for themselves and want a horse that I can build a partnership with. I would never buy a horse that was grumpy or sour, I am soppy and like cuddles so they must too!

I am not a super competitor, but do like to have a horse that has some talent for my own satisfaction and achievement when riding. I like horses with a bit of native in them as I think it makes them more intelligent and they tend to have bigger personalities, but I also like a bit of TB for athleticism and talent. Springy is a good mix of what I look for in a horse, although slightly more opinionated than I would normally choose!!
