Hello!
Me again with my vocabulary problems. ^^

I know that you say the size in "hands", but I can't figure what it represent. And I have no idea how to express the size of my horses.
For exemple, Bellinda is 1m60 and Sherpa 1m68 high. How many hands would that be?

Hands are 4 inches so you need to convert the cms to inches then divide by 4 to get hands (though remember if it comes out at say 15.5 it would be 15'2)

That was not very helpful! :D

But thank you very much! :)

I found this:

Seriously, this is so complicated! I can't understand how you manage to use this system all the time, I'm impressed.

Metric system is easier... but a lot less charming I must say!

You will find it a little alien the way we measure horses in hands & inches, although the metric system is also used now. We don't find it difficult because it's tradition & horses have always been measured in that way.

Similarly, if you go to an auction to buy a horse it won't be priced in £ sterling or euros, it will be priced in guineas. What is a guinea I hear you say? it's an old english coin which is worth £1.05p. Again this is a tradition which still carries on today.

We like tradition ;)
