Hi there,

Can anyone recommend a set of over reach boots that would fit my 17.2 Warmblood please?

Bought the Shires XL ones the other day but they are too small... wondered whether Shires' boots just come up small or if my boy has ridiculously large hooves?

I know that Masta do an XXL range in the basic ones but didn't know if these might be too big then?

Doesn't need to be anything fancy, and not keen on the anti-twist ones as they get clagged up with mud when he's turned out, just looking for a decent sized pair of basic rubber ones.

Thanks in advance,
Sarah

If you are struggling, think outside the box, improvise, adapt and overcome, my first thought was to protect the feet, use disposable nappies, fully adjustable, disposable, just cut the bottom part out, works for the field, but obviously they have their limits, are they for hacking etc or competing

I tried Premire equine, shires, woof wear etc, all xxl none even came close. The only ones which fitted well were the Eskadron ones in xxl. Ok for dressage but maybe not enough protection for XC

I have a 16.3 half Shire with Shire size feet. Le Mieux do some of their over reach boots in XXL and they are a great fit. Big enough around and also long enough to give good coverage. Have a look on the Horsehealth website you will find them all there. I have the black soft shell ones. I have to admit I have not found any rubber ones that come up as big as these.

Thanks for the tip and link... Will take a look at these, fingers crossed they will fit :)

Thanks, they would be for everything, turn out, schooling, hacking and low level eventing eventually... I'm thinking I'm going to have a good pair and a turn out pair cuz they'll get ruined in the field but just wanted to find something that fits before I buy a couple of sets

I have a problem with sizing for my 17h ID. I tried a couple different brands in large and they were too small so I tried the Mark Todd boots in XL and they turned out too big. Doh! He's been wearing XL bog standard rubber over reach boots recently but they're quite snug so rub the colour off on the back of his hoof. He's split the rubber a few times from when he's overreached so although cheap, they don't last long. I've just bought Westropp petal boots because they're apparently much safer for XC and I can adjust the size by changing the number of petals on the strap. They haven't arrived yet but it will be interesting to see how they compare to the other boots I've tried.
