Those of you with a chunkier horse like a ID or ID X - what size tack/rugs do they have?

I have just taken a 16.1 Irish gelding on loan and need to get him a few bits and he doesn't have things like a fly rug and his headcollar could do with replacing! I don't know his exact breeding but he's an ID sort of build with good bone!

I like the look of the Le Mieux Vogue Headcollar but not sure if he'd need Full or X Full. His current headcollar has no size on it!

Our ID X is in full sized head collars and 6’3” rugs - he’s slightly smaller than your boy - not quite 16hh and relatively compact but definitely on the solid side

My 16.2 full ID has a huge noggin and so XF on head collars, fly mask and bridles etc and and 6’9 in rugs. Tricky to fit rugs as everything tight on the shoulders. amigo and ruggles fit, shires hit and miss, masta and WB not at all.

I find the Big Horse Shop do a good range to suit the heavier and broader horse. The quality is good and prices reasonable. The horse wardrobe I bought 5years ago is still going strong ?

Mine is 4/5ths ID, she is 6”6 in rugs, full sized in bridle fly mask etc like others have said sizing can be awkward on shoulders, Rambo fit mine the best, weatherbeeter can be a bit tight. She would fit a cob head collar on max setting though.

My ID had full sized headcollars but his bridles were a mix of parts - often cob cheekpieces, xf nosebands shortened on the headpiece and made to measure browbands. He had a very wide, deep but relatively short head. Rugs were 7ft, but many brands were still too narrow even in that size. He was 16.3.

My full ID (16.3/17) has a full shockemohle bridle. He wear full le Mieux ears. His rugs are 6ft9, I tend to stick to PE and weatherbeeta.

My 16.2 IDxTB is in 6'6" rugs ( but was 6'3" from age 4-10) Rug makes are Weatherbeata, Shires, Bucas, others, are too tight for shoulders and neck. Full size headcollar, and bridle is a mix, full headpieces, cob cheekpieces, full browband, cob noseband. Saddle is max 17" as last rib prevents anything bigger.
