Just a quick report, quite self indulgent for once. Seems i shouldn't of been so nervous!!
Got to Beaver hall for the afternoon classes, planning to do the 2'9 & 3'0. It was so cold, if anyone hasn't been there it's situated high up in the hills and is open, so no wind protection or anything. Lovely place though.
Warmed up in a small arena with a couple of other horses, my girl was being very chilled despite some of the horses acting very naughty bucking and spooking.
10 mins before my first class i moved her up to the warm up next to the arena, now this was more fun, they include juniors and seniors in the same classes, so there was millions of ponies bogging off with children, whizzing round, luckily Ardra is quite big so they gave us a wide berth!!
Went into the first class going away from the warm up past one of the jumps and she stopped
(which is her usual nappy style) so i sat there and said 'come on' squeezed her and didn't panic and after a couple of bucks and her thinking she couldn't go further we set off in canter around the arena, i did two more circles then the bell went to start and she did the most perfect clear round in her life...que me very surprised!!
She did a lovely jump off, quite slow, but clear and with good turns. Then went in the next class and repeated the same performance. At the end of the day we ended up with two 1st rosettes!!!!
I'm over the moon with her and it just goes to show how much my nerves affect her. As long as i stay calm when she first starts to nap and i don't make a big deal of it she doesn't either.
Wish i had thought about that sooner!!!!
Anyway a good day, i might jump a bit bigger next time thogh as felt like i wimped out on the heights of the classes!!
