i showjump in a GP at the moment, but was wondering if it is worth investing in a sj saddle?

when i have tried horses for sale and they have been in sj saddles, they are comfy etc but they dont seem to make me jump any differnetly or make my jumping position any differnt (but then again i dont know this as i cant see myself)

but do you think they are worth the ivnestment or shall i stick to my trusty GP?

also do u reckon i could get one second hand and decent for 300 quid or less?? xxx

i got a 2 year old pessoa for 300 pounds on ebay

If you feel secure and happy in your gp then I would say stick with that. Especially if it fits your horse. I love my jumping saddle as I find it very secure however I would rather jump in a dressage saddle or bareback than in the pessoa I've got as I don't like it at all and it doesn't give me any security.

I find my jumping position is no different in any saddle.
I do however love my jumping saddle - it has kept me in the plate several times with its forward blocks!

Im sure on most of these occasions i would have eaten dirt in a gp!

There are some really nice ones for around £300 on ebay.

Personally i love a jumping saddle!!

you get a far better movement out of the saddle, your leg can go a bt higher without your knee popping over the GP knee block. The scoop to the seat is flatter, so when you fold in the jumping position you dont hit the pommel.

I have a Jaguar and a Harry dabbs, both made by Harry dabbs and they are fab, wouldnt give you a thankyou for a passo, yuck, hate the cliff barnsby had two that had a twisted tree (and they say lightening dosent strick in the same place twice), albions are OKay, Stubbens are very hard.

im now going to get an Amerigo for my Red mare. oohh cant wait as shes just a bubby and shes fab - sorry had to add that!!

if you like your GP stay with it but if you feel that you may benefit from a Jumper then maybe get one on trial, some saddlers do that for about 50quid - its worth the 50!!

I got a frank baines CC saddle brand new last xmas and it the best thing I have ever bought and make a great amount of difference to how my horse and I jump. I makes me feel more confident in the saddle approaching and over fences and its eaiser for him as my old Gp saddle a Jefferies was heavier and obvioiusly CC's are lighter.

On every horse prior to Juno I have not had a problem jumping in a GP. Juno has a huge powerfull jump which i had real problems staying with in a GP. Tried and Exselle Integra II and loved it. Totally solved my problem.
