Following on from my post in Soapbox re my Mum's birthday - can anyone recommend a riding school/instructor that offers tuition on schoolmasters.

My mum can ride and used to point to point/SJ when she was younger but had a bad fall a few years ago at a local show and has now lost her confidence when it comes to SJ. Unfortunately my horse isn't all that suitable to help build her confidence as he is a bit nervous and spooky!

I have had Talland suggested and wondered if anyone could recommend any others?

Near Southend but don't mind travelling e.g. with Talland I was going to book a hotel/B&B to make it a short birthday break

I have ridden at Talland althought i have never jumped there. The instructors (even the AIs) that I have had have always been very good. It would be a bit of a trek though, take me 3 hrs ish to drive from Colchester to near Talland if the traffic is ok.

How about Contessa near Bishops Stortford? I know they are mainly known for dressage but i think they have an instrcutor who teaches a lot of jumping too.

Or maybe Newton Hall equestrian centre which is just above Ipswhich so closer to home. I have recently started riding there and Rossie, the owner, is a BHSI and a great teacher. All the horses i have ridden there have been pretty good so it might be worth enquiring.

What kind of height/level jumping would your mum be looking to do?

I know it is a long way but the Yorkshire Riding Centre have fantastic schoolmasters and do accommodation and short confidence giving courses. Well worth a look.
