sj stallion suggestions

the more i look the more i like handel. Will look into argento but would it be better to live on bread and water and go for arko himself? He must throw good foals from the standard of off spring from small numbers?
Ultimatley i want a sound foal that isn't going to kill me. The sj choice is because of her breeding so there is a market for it incase i cant keep it.

Certainly with Handel, you'll find a nice helpful owner. I thought of Argento because he possibly has a calmer temperament than Arko, nor will he be as expensive I think (haven't tried comparing fees).

I would use a stallion that had been graded with a proper continental studbook (eg KWPN, Hanoverian, Zangersheide). If money and risk (of losing it!) are issues, then both Nijhof and Zangersheide only require full payment of the stud fee in October. Those 2 studs both have some very reasonably priced stallions with huge depths of pedigree. Both have been very easy to deal with and semen delivery has been as requested.

Thats really useful, do they do a summary like this for all stallions? Clinton is also very nice, going to look into it

They do this for all approved KWPN stallions. It used to be on a different website but you can find it on www.kwpn.nl where there is a list that you can search. If they do not have the info online I am sure that you can contact them and they will advise you re stallion choice.

I can say that Lauriston is a very nice man! I know his owner, have met him in the flesh and you couldnt meet a nicer chap! I have also visited his home a few times this year to get my foal fix (we haven't has any babies this year) and i can say that each and every one of his foals are stunning, friendly and will go out and do their jobs when old enough!

I have used a young stallion called Wings who is reg with KWPN and has a superb temp and has done very well with SJ ridden by Bumble Thomas. Google him, his first foals are on the ground now. My colt is 2 weeks old the spitting image of his dad and so far lovely little chap. The stud fees are not huge as he is a new stallion and his owner couldn't have been anymore helpful and is very experienced. My mare is a TB who can be sharp but is kind as well. Good luck.
