So did our first ever SJAI horse class today at a beautiful venue called Laurelview which has just put in their second indoor arena (luxury or what?).
Schedule said 80, 1m, 90cm, so went for the 80 and 1m in order to get home for the rugby. Jumped the 80, dc, really pleased as he was good and steady, then they announced the 90 would be next.
Already entered for the 1m so just waited, eventually got round the 1m, with 3 plonkers late for the 90cm, all had to come in together? (all in draw reins too I might add....)
Well BL was stunning, perfectly responsive, a little stiff on the left rein, he didn't want to bend!
Jumped double clear, and it was a good decent size, technical and best of all we know have a grand total of 3 points!
Also, is riding 1.10m course any different to 1m. I've only done 1.10m courses once on he pony, will I have the same impulsion etc.?

well, not in the arena, but whilst warming up. Basically, one adult, two kids, thinking trainer and pupils? Took bout 20mins for them to come in, then they had to removce said draw reins from one horse and wait until all three were ready before one of them could go in.
Was a good day, I had control and he jumped nicely!

well done glad you had a good day.
just out of interest why state that the people who were late were all in draw reins. if they choose to use them who cares. i happen to use them alot on my horse because i know how to use them correctly and also have a very set routine for working her which draw reins form a part of. sure some people may think its terrible but i hate the fact that peolpe can be so closed minded about this type of thing.

It was the behaviour of them. It's hard to explain. They were warming up, one screeching at her parent.
They were more in them as a fashion thing? And their attitude was just appalling.
I dont like them , and they were not (the young ones anyway) good enough to be riding in them. I don't agree with jumping in them. I'm allowed to state my opinion, and I do think there was an 'air' about them added to by the draw reins...

ah yeah i understand you now. was just curious. i tend to use them warming up at shows as i have a long warm up designed to switch horse off and discovered by fluke one day that when my doll has them on even if i don't take up a contact in them its like a button goes off in her head and she chills out. but that being said my mare is an oddball anyway.

Sounds like a great day.

Must admit we are a bit wary at the mo about going to venues the other side of Belfast going on the westlink, as it is so bad at the moment with the roadworks.

Sounds like this venue would be worth the journey though.

Well done on the 2 DCs.

Fiona

thanks. Laurelview is def. worth the journey. Westlink was fine, it really is a clean place with lots of facilities.

Fiona, this is local to use and we use it quite a bit, their website keeps you up to date with what is going on http://www.laurelviewstud.co.uk/ and I believe the West Link isn't too bad at the moment. We will be crossing from our direction on Saturday for Lisburn but didn't have a problem with it a few weeks ago. Only on work days, at rush hour is it a nightmare, but then I think it always was!!
