I will stick to appaloosas - now that is often mispronounced too! One person called them Appos!

Yes there are! lol, It's usually the travellers who spell it as they say it, 'goes on a tether with plenty of feather' is another selling tehnique lol!

lol maybe its a Northern Irish thing!!! I get blank looks when i say skewbald so i now call them coloureds

my husband used to call them screwballs bless him. We were at hicksted once watching a coloured showing class and he asked "why did they name the horse colouring after an icecream?" how embarassing. i now make him just call them coloured, far less confusing for the non-horsey!!

you are not alone, this is something that has bothered me all my life lol.

Its not just that, it took me weeks to figure out that the chocolate, liver, dark bay, brown, liver chestnut and dark chestnut horses that the gypsy keeps trying to sell me is actually just one horse.

In the UK I'd say skewbald, never heard of screwbald sounds like something that has a DIYer reaching for the WD40/duct tape/hammer!

Often see ads for Brewed mares...hic!
