Skewbald racehorse

My thoughts exactly! Some of the comments on here make very uncomfortable reading...

Crazy, isn't it? Obviously, breeding for colour is not what should be done, ability and excellent bloodlines are what should be looked at, but it would be fab to see a good breeder diversifying and not sticking with the conservative solid coloured horses for everything. I met a cracking coloured warmblood in the woods one day, I don't see why they couldn't be top of the competition scene.
 
I'd say Utah Van Erepekom was a pretty good example of a coloured horse competing highly ! plus Beltane Queen as already mentioned. There are some pretty dismal racehorses that are bay too... I really can't see the problem in breeding for colour if the quality is also kept to a very high standard!
 
I love coloureds however my experience of coloureds as competition horses is they are more prone to break down, and I suspect this is a lot to do with breeding for colour not strength.

I would still look at a coloured to buy but for a serious competition horse would always be wary of the above.
