Yesterday my horse came in from the field with some surface wounds on his legs (by that I mean he had taken off the fur and in some places a bit of skin) they where warm so I cold hosed and poultices him as they where weeping and I didn’t want anything getting in them. What I am worried about now is that how do I prevent him catching himself in the future? Especially being aware that boots could do more damage then good so any advice would be appreciated

Thank you but I have checked both his stable and field and I couldn’t find anything that could cause it, I think where he’s been a bit silly recently he’s keeps caring his leg but I’m not sure

Are you thinking he is striking into himself? Which legs are involved and whereabouts are the wounds?

I think so, and I’ll try and get some photos tomorrow but he’s scraped his two back hinds and his front left. The back hinds he’s scraped on both insides and on the left outside he’s got the bottom of the leg somehow ? and on the front he only has one on the inside of his leg
