i wonder if anyone can shed some light.
my horse is prone to mud fever, however at the moment we are really struggling with what i can only describe as similar to eczema. his white back feet are incredibly dry, sore, scabby, red, and in the creases they are starting to crack. we try and keep them moist and lubricated, at the moment we are using winter cream from a company called amberly aromatics (which i totally recommend for the scabs behind cobs knees) and it seems to keep them moisturised for a short while, it is also antibacterial and anti fungal. we have had to start a course of bute as they are so sore and swollen he is shaking when we try to put the cream on, poor boy. in the past (this isnt the first time) we've had flamazine, steroid spray and the steroid mud fever cream we were given in the winter.
he's now on box rest to eliminate any mud/wet grass etc. the vet thinks it is some sort of allergy, however we are at a loss of what. it looks similar to mud fever, yet we have had no mud for a while now. she suggested a biopsy however because it is very low down it is quite risky.
he has been at the same yard for 7 years, same field, same straw bedding, same arenas we ride in. the only thing we have changed recently is we have put him on baileys lo cal balancer, however im not sure this would make a reaction in such a concentrated area.
i have some pictures if anyone was interested. the yellow colouring is from the cream, and we have had to clip the area with mini clippers just to see what we are dealing with!
i was just wondering if anyone had ever seen anything like this before, or had any miracle cure?!

i must add, he is absolutely happy in himself, and it is not itchy
thankyou
