Hi all.

I had a vet out Friday to do a basic health check on my loan horse. He's a 15'3, 12 year old bay tb gelding, ex racer. Has lived out this past year with his owner, came to me end of January and now lives in at night, out in the day. Has a companion who seems healthy and fine.

Blue has a patch of baldness on both his fore elbows, towards the back/inside. It started on his right and is now on his left as well. I thought perhaps it was him chewing or rug rubbing but now it seems to be starting as a patch on his nose. No broken skin, no swelling, the skin looks smooth and healthy, just bald. Not a single hair left in the patch.

The vet saw it and said it didn't seem hot or inflamed and just to keep an eye on it and shampoo him (which I will do as soon as we get another warmish day). The patches aren't round and I asked about ringworm as that was my first concern. Its not that.

Does anyone know what this could be? I'll try to take some pics tomorrow, didn't really have time today. Thanks for any thoughts.
