Horse is almost 3 weeks since lacerating nearside hind leg. Gone from wearing large pressure bandage to a simpler dressing, and now having a steroid applied to dry up the wound and regenerate the skin to cover over the wound now it has largely filled in. Vet has mentioned the possibility of doing a skin graft, will probably make this decision in a week or so.
I am a bit hesitant at the thought of this, worried about creating another wound and infection risk that comes with it. Just wanted to know if anyone has had any positive experiences. Obviously will be guided by the vet but just seems a bit risky.
