Hi,
My horse lives in a field with 5 other horses. One of these horses is a young cob Apollo, about 3 or 4 years old.
He is not seen to very often which is where my concern comes from. Apollo's nose for the past 6 days looks like it is on the process of melting off. It does not appear to be improving or worsening (I don't see how it could).
The skin is peeling off and falling off and his whole nose is bleeding and is very sensitive to him. His whole nose is pink and all of it is affected by whatever is going on. The open flesh goes very deep. The owner can't afford a vet to see him.
She says he gets it from nettles and puts cream on it but I think it's incredibly severe for a nettle rash. Also the horses all share a drinking trough, the other horses are looking healthy.
Please send any suggestions my way on how to give him a bit of relief from this painful condition.
Thank you
