I need some advice regarding my bichon frise. He keeps getting a very red itchy rash on his lower tummy and private area and will not stop licking and biting it. I am constantly at the vet with him about it; they just give him steroids and antibiotics and say that’s the only thing they can do. I am beginning to think he might be allergic to something. Has anyone else’s dog suffered from something similar? any tips and advice? I just hate to see him suffer.

I was litteraly juts about to post the same thing about my puppy. She gets little yellowy bumps and she always licking and chewing and scartchjing them. They are in the same area as you describe. We had her up the vets lastw eek but she seemed to think it was more to do with the heating drying her skin out.

I'll be interested to hear anyone elses experiences and ideas. x

I also put Dermobion on her itchy bits, but you must be careful as it contains steroids (but speak to vet first). Dont think you can get that cream anymore, but its the only thing that works for my eczema.

He is only 1. I think I need to take him to the vet again and discuss other things it might be. Sorry to be dumb but what kind of dog is it you have?

My JR gets the same thing, Seems to flare worst when he has run on wet grass (especially when pollen is about). NOW DON'T LAUGH!!!! I was advised by a friend to feed him a spoon of liquidized spinage in his meals (she read it in a dogs mag), was a bit sceptical but thought it was worth a try and better than having to keep getting steroids from the vets. Well it works!

Liquidize either fresh or frozen spinage with a squirt of runny honey feed a tablespoon twice a day. Ozzie's tum looked less angry in a matter of days and almost normal by the end of a week!!!! I feed all the time when grass pollen around and as and when required the rest of the year - he's on it at the moment, as flared again last week.

I forgot I also add some Olive Oil as oil is good for skin and it also make the spinage easier to liquidize - goes into a sort of very thick green gravy. Yum!!!!

My friend also feeds this to her springers who can get very itchy at times and it works for them too.

My Yorkie used to get really bad eczema. On advice from the vet we changed her diet to pasta and tinned sardines. It took a few weeks but it totally cleared uo and she has been ok since.
