skin rash just wont go

during the winter my mare has lumps just under the surface of the skin, after calling the vet they said it was likely to be heat or bacterial due to wearing a rug and being un clipped. they advised that i clipped her and washed her with hibiscrub and cleaned all rugs and grooming kit etc. Shes only 4 and never been clipped so skipped that bit, and just washed everything and her every few days. it calmed down a bit but didnt go completely so they sent some antibiotics/antibacterial powders to add to her feed, that didnt help either. she is unrugged now and like last summer seems to have the bumps but they are a bit oozy with a yellow serum. just wondered if anyone else has the same or knows how to treat it? she has different feed in summer to winter so not sure if its food related. winter = stabled at night out in day, spillers cool mix, dengi original chaff, and sugar beet. ad lib quality hay or haylage. summer out 24hrs access to hay but prefers grass,spillers happy hooves. there was rape in the surrounding fields last summer but not this year.
 
My old mare had a skin condition that wouldn't clear up. Shampoos didn't touch it, antibiotics nearly killed her after she developed endo-toxemia, and in the end, I resorted to good old aloe vera gel. It cleared up within 2 weeks. It seemed to be a rainscald rash, lots of tiny bumps, which my vet said was due to her age and diminished immune system, it was across one shoulder, which was the one she rolled on most. Not sure how extensive your's is, but aloe vera is certainly worth a try.
 
I used the gel on her skin directly. Barriers do a pot for about a fiver, or you could try getting a plant, I have one at home and use it on everything!!
 
Have any of the lumps/ patches broken open?
We had a horse at work who sounds similar but his broke open and scabbed ending up almost ring worm looking but we figured can't have been as it went on for absolutely ages and no one else, horse or human caught it even tho' we share brushes, rugs tack etc.
We have some sort of spray for it and its definitely working. It's a general over the counter anti bacterial anti fungicide spray. I can look what it's called if you like?
 
Oh dear, we now have sneezing, wheezing and headshaking, just waiting for the vet to get back to me , she did headshake a little last year but had teeth changing so assumed it was that. Oh dear poor girl looks like a long hard slog to find the cause, tests , tests and more tests ....
 
The vet came friday, advised to wash the scabs with melaseb, gave ventapulmin for cough, i rode yesturday shes still headshaking and coughing, she loves work so just wish she was well enough
 
My mare had the exact same thing, lasted 5 months. Lumps then yellow scabs. Turned out it was ringworm, even though nothing else caught it. Didn't look at all like it though! Healed up after 2 weeks with stuff the vet gave me - Imaverol I think.
 
Sorry meant to say, she also did some head shaking with it, side to side, like a fly was annoying her. She was just itchy I think.
