Ok, Beau was last clipped in November. He has grown in some cat hairs, but the clipped area is not growing at all - seriously. He now also is getting scurfy, despite getting a good grooming daily (He has always been scurfy when he starts to moult).
This time last year his clip was growing in a LOT more than it is now, and I am worried that its going to grow in really funny this year - also its the 1st year he has had a blanket clip. I want to clip the blanket area off, but someone said it was to late - but he has been clipped in summer before to as he usually has a substantial coat on him and being dark he gets very hot very easily.
Do you think it would be ok to clip it off in a couple of weeks, or should I do it now?? He is wearing a HW full neck when he is out at the moment.
And also, he doesn't seem to be greasy at all, and in some places he has dry skin - would it be ok to wash him/should I wash him and if so with what? Someone also said Dandruff shampoo- but I have never known anyone to use that on a horse before. I know people say not to wash as it will remove the grease from the coat, but the main thing seems to be that he has no grease - despite him receiving Linseed Oil and Sunflower oil in his feed, along with a supplement for the local soil as we are lacking in Selenium up here. Other than that he is still actually shiny in his coat.
Any advice appreciated!
