Skin tag under eyelid - can I ligate it?

As above, I have a skin tag about 1/4 cm under my left eyelid, it's about the size of a grain of rice. I am sorely tempted to tie a bit of dental floss around it and wait for it to drop off. Anyone ever done this?

No, can't say I have but then my eyesight wouldn't be good enough to see it in the first place!
Let me know how it goes. Might possibly be a little painful.

I think your GP would be better to do this with some fine suture material. Else fine fishing line may be better than floss. I heard they drop off quite fast but not heard of anyone doing them in visible areas that way before!

I haven't done one under my eye but I've done one on my neck and one on the inside of my thigh (well, actually my friend did the one on my neck as I couldn't see it!) and both dropped off no bother. I just wound normal thread round them but dental floss is probably better!

Thanks for your replies. I have to say that I am rather Doctor phobic and therefore usually sort my own ailments in a somewhat agricultural way!

I realise that, once I have committed to this plan and actually tied the knot, there is no way back as untying it is probably not an option! I agree, it probably will be a bit uncomfortable. I'll continue to mull it over for a bit longer!

Ooooh! I'd get to the doc's office (whatever your fears), rather than do it yourself in such a visible position. If it went wrong, could be a bit nasty

You could get the vet to do it for you if you don't like the doctor

Yeah, maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and go to the doc, be a shame to spoil my fabulous good looks!!

just use cotton thread, if you pull it tight enough it will cut through lol x

Well, I've done it. Just a bit of a fiddle getting the thread in the right place, but no dramas.

My mum had one in her armpit, she tied it with cotton and it worked fine.
