My mare has decided to become a sensative sod!
When I first clipped her she had a reaction to the clipper oil which meant she came out in itchy lumps for about a week. Nothing about her diet etc had changed.
She then had her jab on Thursday and the next day lo and behold my horse is covered in lumps! From what I know she has never reacted like this before ( I contacted previous owner).
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can give her to help with this because my next fear is that she is going to decided to have a reaction to fly bites and being stabled next to a river means the yard is full of midgies! My theory is to give her something to help with her skin and start building it up in her system now before fly season.
I want to go competing not have a horse covered in bites!!

Forgot to add I am yet to clip her for the last time next weekend but I can't risk not riding her in the run up to our BD camp so all ideas welcomed this way!

I swear by linseed, made the old-fashioned way (raw seeds boiled up and cooked overnight - it's poisonous if uncooked). It's a wonder worker for poor skin, and leaves your horse with a gleaming coat into the bargain. But it does sound odd that your horse has suddenly become sensitive to jabs, clipping etc. Are any other horses affected?

Thank you for that :) I didn't think of Linseed!
And no there are no other horses effected. I've only had her since the end of September and I bought her from about 150miles away so its a completely different environment. Shes always been sensative when I bought her with protein type rashes, rashes from the clipper oil and now her Jabs. WhatI mean by suddenly becoming sensatie is that her old owner has said shes never reacted to anything! And they were honest when they sold her to me. Silly horse!

Second recomendation for linseed.
But also would seriously consider looking at current feed.
In particular would recommend looking for barley free feed as have seen a number of horses with various skin sensitivities (eg coming up in unexplained bumps) more or less disappear when switching to barley free feed.

Thanks guys
The strange thing Sem999 is that with her previous owners she was on Barley every day even through the summer. I bought her and obviously new place she was unsettled and hyper so I took her off it. she is on Hi Fi Lite, A small amount of bran and some Speedibeet. She doesn't get fed anything overly high in protein.

Yes, brewers yeast and linseed meal are fabulous together for those sensitive souls.

Hope you find a solution. I've got a sensitive one too so know just what a nightmare it is.

Agree with linseed. MSM is also good for skin. For the reactions themselves, I've had massive success with NAF D-TOX - amazing stuff. My horse gets big lumps from midge bites, the d-tox clears it up just as well as anything the vet's given me :).
