Skinny horse!!!

personally I would scrap the bran. It's not worth anything to the horse, and has been implicated in impaction colics.

I would get him onto
adlib speedibeet or even better AlfaBeet/Fibrebeet.
adlib hay/haylage
conditioning cubes and alfa oil
maybe even full fat soya or equijewel or outshine if he's still struggling.
 
Sallyellis- his grazing isn't great but have just negotiated to move him into a better paddock which will hopefully help and he has access to adlib hay good tip about the readymash will def try it if he doesn't pick up thank you.
Jenhunt- he already has adlib hay, conditioning mix, Alfa A oil and soya oil, def taking him off the bran today.
Vet said to wait and see he is bk out in 3 weeks. Just been looking at him and I don't think he's as bad as he was actually, will post a pic later and see what you all think.

I don't think he looks too bad, remember he is a growing boy and it is better for his joints that he is on the light side than on the heavy side IMO. He looks bright and alert and his coat looks in good condition. I would rather see a horse that looks like that than a fat horse, personally.:)

I did have a feeling I was being a bit paranoid and he was really ribby not so long ago but he seems to have picked up quite a bit, still got it in my head that hes skinny though haha
 
Thanks jenhunt :D, hes my baby and i think Im just being a bit paranoid, had an RSPCA visit the other day, not for him just a timewaster but got me on edge.

To me he looks more "young" than anything - he's all legs, isn't he?!

We're so used to seeing overweight horses nowadays that lean, fit horses often appear on the thin side. He could afford to put a little bit on but I think he looks alright to be honest.

I'm another who doesn't feed bran for the reasons mentioned before. It's pretty outdated IMO.

I'm guessing all that you are feeding him is going into growing at the moment! Better grazing will hel[p more than anything.

I really don't think he looks half bad though ;)
