I've had my ex racer TB gelding just over 2 months now. When I got him he was extremely thin having been left out all winter. Well, with lots of TLC, good food and working him in hand he has come on so much! Still some weight to be gained but muscle is starting to return and he is looking and feeling much better.
I have ridden him in the school half a dozen times progressing to walk and trot yesterday for about 20 mins. Feeling confident, I ventured out for a short hack this am with my friend and her reliable boy and mine was fantastic! Not a foot wrong. Stood while I got on at mounting block, stood, walked and trotted when asked and didn't look / spook at anything. Very self indulgent post I know but I am so proud of him and it is so exciting to be on board!

So pleased for you and your boy. Ex racers are often fairly spook free as they've been there and done it all. I think the thing that sometimes gets them going is the sound of loudspeakers ! What a clever boy

Oh thank you! It's early days but feeling very positive after this morning's ride. So much nicer to be out on hack than in school every day. Mind you, plenty of schooling to be done - a little like riding a willing plank of wood at the mo!
