Some of you may remember my previous threads on how to get weight on my skinny ex racer. Well it has now been 3 months so I thought I would post an update!

This was her at the beginning of June:

I owe a massive thanks to both HollyHocks for mentioning the ready mash, and to Rowan and Barbary for all their help and advice - we are also going to be in their October magazine!

She will have the winter off and come back into work next year (hopefully at least! Not sure when I will have the all clear to get back in the saddle...)

MardyMare - She has started to get her winter coat through which is why she has gone darker, this is her in the summer

Thanks guys! I am so happy she is starting to look like a normal horse and not a WHW case!

what a amazing improvement, i know how hard it can be, i got a horse (long story) that the vet recorded as a very low 2 (said at least 100kg underweight) been 6 months now and a different horse and much loved horse.

You should be very proud :D Doesnt look like an ex racer at all...looks ever so slightly like my ISH in the face!
If you are going off the first pic then yes her head looks huge, although I think it was because she was so skinny. She has actually got quite a fine head!

DH1 - for 'knowledge' read 'post as many threads as possible begging for help'! I have always had natives so very used to getting weight off horses, not on them!

Thats what the vets put her at. She is 16.1 and at one point was about 410kg  :(

BBH she looks fantastic! I too know the hardship of getting weight onto a skinny minny- its a total nightmare! Massive congratulations on all you have done for her, she looks like a different horse! She a gorgeous girl too!:D

xx

Thats not fair!!! How come you get in the magazine and not me?!?!? LOL!!

She looks great though. I can't rate their feed enough. It was a racehorse trainer who recommended it to me....

:o thanks again, it's been a massive learning curve as I've always had natives so have always had to get weight off horses! I've learnt so much over the last 6 months with her and with lots of help from you fab HHO'ers :D
