I'm dogsitting a lovely whippet lad starting on sunday afternoon while his momma is in hospital :D

He's a lovely fawn boy called Trip and I think I'll have to half-inch someones digital camera for the week to document his stay. He really is a darling.

In other news, my dad is being an awkward bugger about the new dog ("Anything but a bloody greyhound.") so I'm trying to think a way around it. Maybe when I'm viewing the greyhound also see a larger lurcher and consider comprimising? I really don't want to go much smaller than a whippet and I honestly don't know if they have a dog of that size that would match :/

Awww we definitely need piccies of the whippet, I adore whippets :D But that is very bad news about your dad, why is he so set against greyhounds? They will have lurchers there too I have no doubt, so maybe you could go for a shaggy lurcher and tell him it doesnt have any greyhound in at all :p:D:D

Unfortunatly, the silly old coot is of the 'old-school' way of thinkings. He's got it into his head that they are dangerous and will want to kill Tessie the instant they see her - even though I've told him that there are numerous hounds that live in sedate happiness with a little dog (although they might want to kill her for a totally different reason ;)).

I think I'll be cheeky and ask my rho if I can meet Gimba (on the website) because he looks slightly smaller than a greyhound and reads well :/

I have a lovely greyhound who lives happily with 2 terriers and I'm trying to persuade my OH he has room in his heart for a whippety dog too. I see potential here....

I nearly had Gimba :D He is gorgeous, but he wasnt ready for immediate rehoming when he came in. In the meantime I got Amy, so when he was ready I had already got 3 dogs and couldnt really fit in another one :(

But Kelli from GRWE recommended him to me and says he is lovely, there is a lot about him on the Hound Lounge chat forum :)

Initially I had ruled him out as too young but I'm thinking of removing my lower age limit to accomodate younger dogs. Graham did mention him to me as of passing but he moved on quickly before I could find out about him. Do you think you could link me to where he is on the Hound Lounge, I can't seem to find it?

Found him (eventually XD). He looks a darling but now I wonder if he's not too much of a baby for old crankypants. I also saw some nice photos of Ray on there, he's the one I'm off to see next weekend with the smelly fat rat and he really does seem lovely.

I'll still get in touch with Graham and ask if there are any more I can see while I'm there, cover all possible bases and appease the concerned father. I could always lie and tell him that Ray isn't pure greyhound but I think the ear tatoos might give him away :D

I wish these forums had an 'edit' button (or if they do, I wish I wasn't so dense).

Quick update: Not meeting Gimba, meeting Ed instead (yeah, the mange-ridden one who looked like the Disney character) XD

Might be meeting Richie too, will know for sure during the week when Graham rings :D

Have you tried Lurcherlink.org? They have whippets/greys too. They are good in that they offer lifelong support so if the dog doesn't fit or your circumstances change they will take it back. They want to make sure the dog is homed for life...

You can't beat a pointy! And they take up as much space as you let them take up - they squeeze!
