Does anyone know what year he died and if there was any frozen semen from him? I ask as I have found a horse who is said to be by him but I have also found him in conjuction with a Skippy son?

Rita and I were discussing it earlier, have checked the data-bases but turned up nothing. Am just about to trawl the yearbooks but don't hold much hope!

Last place of standing according to yearbook is 1991 in Ticknall, Derby. Anyone know if he stood after this and for how long and still need to find out about if there was any frozen from him? The horse I found was born in 1999.

Try The Traditional Irish Horse Association's website and they're also on Facebook. There are lots of very knowledgable people who may be able to help you. Good luck!

I remember this, I met Skippy a few times at Ticknall when my mare was at Scaddows Farm in Ticknall to be covered by Saunter. This was when I was pregnant with my daughter so would have been 1991, she was born July that year and I remember being fairly pregnant at the time.

I think it was the following year that he became infertile and was PTS.

Archie S-M imported him, we used him in 1981, the resulting filly founded our dynasty! I rather think that Archie moved him on because his fertility slipped, (can't be sure) but a friend whose otherwise fertile mare was at Websters, not long after they had him when they were close to Ashby, for a whole summer, never did get her in foal.

The IDHS (GB) would surely know the answer, and I very much doubt given his fertility that in those days frozen would have been under consideration.

ps these days he'd never have been graded RID as he was 1/4 TB

Thanks Chrissie, I had heard that. I realise the grading rules, but they have just changed again and colts from grade up mares are eligable for inspection class 1.

Is the horse Hop and Skip u were thinking off, it says hes by Skippy but is actually by Skippy Too and bred by sue tutcher, there was never any frozen semen for Skippy but there is from Skippy Too
