We have a hatchback skoda octavia elegance 2.0 tdi. It's is 54 plate.
Can anyone help me with the towing weights for this? I've searched the internet but get so many variations for this model from 1200 to 1800??? Thank you.

This model? = http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/facts-and-figures/skoda/octavia/hatchback-2004/28241/

If its not that one then go to the car and hidden under the bonnet or in a door frame is a weight plate
You need the top two of the four figures shown
Deduct the top figure from the second figure and that will give you the towing capacity

On the V5 keepers form -
Q technical permissible maximum towable mass of the trailer
Q.1 braked (kg) ????

It's not the 4x4 version just a hatchback. We're looking at getting bateson derby or a light version of cheval liberte.
I am wondering what will be the highest weight I can get the trailer down plated to and still be legal. I'm having trouble finding the maximum weight the car can tow.

Which model in that list was yours ?

A Bateson Derby trailer down plated from 1700 to 1450 will allow for a trailer load/horse of 775kg

I do not think any Octavia is over 2050 kg GVW and it seems all those with an engine of 1800+ have a towing limit well over 1500

What did it say on the weight plate or in the V5 ?

It's the octavia hatchback 2.0 tdi cr se 5 Dr.
1800kg towing capacity
1900 GVW
That means an ifor 401 or 403 at 1600 MAM would not need down plating for B towing and has a trailer payload of just over 800kg

Please confirm the weights by posting the top two weights on the vehicle weight plate which is usually hidden under the bonnet or in a door frame - that is VERY VERY VERY important

We are looking at a double if possible so we can tow two in the future when we have taken the b and e test and perhaps changed cars if necessary.
I will get back tomorrow with the top 2 weight after iv had a look. Thank you.

If the weights are correct for the car then you could get something like a HB510 which has a MAM of around 2300 and an empty weight no more than 1000 so down plating that to 1600 would leave 600 for the horse on a B licence but could be up plated back to 2300 in the future for B+E towing

The are many other trailers to which you could do the same and Bateson seem to have the cheapest down/up plating service as well as a good custome service record and lighter trailers

Thank you, I hadn't even considered a double ifor as I had presumed it would be to heavy for B licence towing. That would give us a lot more options if those weights ate correct and more chance of finding a trailer aswell. The lighter ones are like rocking horse poop!
