Skull cap or peaked cap which is better

i am looking to buy a new hat and unsure whether to buy a skull hat or a hat with a peak.

What are the safety reasons for each.

Any hat recommendations.

I mainly do hacking and schooling, occasionally jumping,XC. (Aware no peak for xc).

I like a skull because I like to change the hat silk sometimes.

If you just want one hat then I would buy a skull if there is the possibility of you going xc.

We have the Charles Owen Ayr8 skull, but have also had HS1 which we also liked but prefer the chin strap on the Ayr8

I always wear a skull too.

I have a Charles Owen J3 and love it, but the best hat is the one that fits best!

Peaks are banned XC for a reason I guess, so skull.

You really need to follow the standards, which I'm not up to date on, but from memory Snell is the toughest.

The hat that fits you is the best, irrespective of type - I have to wear a stupid ugly thing aimed at the teen market because it fits me so well and will protect me the best. I'd rather be safe than stylish.
