So I've had a Charles Owen Adventura for the last few years and just decided to replace it.

Ordered a CO pro II online, thinking that being the same brand, the same size would fit me.

It turns up and the blooming thing's too big!!

Obviously you should really try the hat on before you buy it but surely there's not THAT much size range between models?

Have just done the same as you.... brought my daughter a Gatehouse HS1 special edition in silver size 0.5 (54 cm) which is her size and it's too small, gutted :( so if anyone on here would like to take it off my hands!!! pls p.m me :) new with tags.

Its not the sizing that can be an issue, its generally the shape of the hat too. The Pro skull is a completely different fit to the adventura.

Its very hard to buy a hat online and you'd be very lucky if it fitted, unless you brought one you had before and it hadn't changed. To be honest I don't think they should be sold online as they are such an important safety device, but thats just my opinion.

I would strongly suggest going into a shop for a professional fitting, then you can find the right one. What you save in postage will pay for any extra cost in a shop.

Measuring your head and ordering the size is not how hat fitters are trained, the size of your head is not the size you will be, trust me I have been fitting them for years!

we did try in a tack shop before I brought online... strange, that we tried the same make, model and size in the shop and the one I ordered is too small... o well

thats the thing that surprises me.

if I were to order an adventura online then I would obviously get the same size as I bought before when it was fitted in the shop.

so I'm surprised that the same brand but a different model would fit so differently.

I don't really have time to get to a place that has a decent range of hats as the only place that's near me isnt open on a Sunday.

going to send it back and get the next size down.

any other comments gratefully received.

The best advice is always get a professional hat fitting in a shop. Different hats are different shapes. Some are more oval and some are more round. And if your head is a differnt shape to the hat changing size will not make it fit. You will end up with gaps either at the front and back or at either side, And in a fall it wont protect you propperly. I get a hat fitting every time i get a new hat then go buy the same make and model online as its normally alot cheaper. Hope this helps :D
