Well basically, my horse has a high head carraige and at times it just makes things difficult at times. Hes a 11 year old IDXTB and ive had him since he was 8. He wears a running martingale which doesnt do much but he has improved, because he now walks without having his head in the sky, but anything faster or if im jumping its straight up! Its supposed to cause neck problems carrying it that high and it would be great if he just put it down! i've tried the alternating-half halts-and-releasing method during schooling but nothing happens, there has been times that after a serious schooling workout he will go on the bit lovely, but thats rare. Hes had teeth checked and he has a rubber joint snaffle. When hes having a 'hyper moment' he raises his head right back as if hes trying to get away from the bit, when im not even touching it, and then other times he will put his whole weight in the bit and tank off with me. He's a bit of a nutter and constantly wants to be faster than the pace he is currently at. I NEVER pull hard or yank, i hate harshness. But i dont agree with the horse trying to be the boss, so i will make him go at the pace i want him to and ride through his hissy fits which can take all day. But after a few bust noses it can be a pain (literally). Every day is different with him, im so confused!
