Skye is at the vets again today to have the drain removed. Another GA poorthing. I hate just waiting for the phone to ring to say I can go and fetch her.
Well mine had her eye removed and as far as I can recall no drain, she certainly didn't go back for it to be removed. Maybe as she had a tumour more of the structure round the eye was removed or something. Anyway, Skye will soon be rid of hers that is the main thing, is she having stitches out too or will they be in a bit longer? Is she coping okay since the eye was removed?
Until I collect her, I'm not sure. I would think she'll still have stitches as the op was only last Thursday. Will be picking her up at 5.40 tonight. She has been very quiet, but has been getting about well. Obviously hasn't been allowed to run about at all yet.
She hates the buster collar, but it is a necessity obviously.
Tina had a drain which was supposed to be removed 5 days (or was it 7?) after surgery, however due to the infection in her eye it was still leaking fluid so it was decided to leave it in until the stitches were being removed which were taken out after 10 days.
ALthough she didn't need a GA to have hers removed. I held her head while the vet snipped the stitches and the drain was pulled out. She didn't even flinch
Well the drain has been removed successfully. Skye now has a much neater set of stitches. She is so fed up with the Buster collar but it will only be for a week or to now, if everything goes well.
I have to take her back to vet on Friday just for a check up.
Thank you all for the kind words and vibes. They truly help.
Ah bless her, glad to hesar she got the drain removed ok. Could you even remove the buster collar while you're with her? As if she does try to scratch you are there to stop her? That's what we did with Tina her collar was huuuuge, she could barely fit through the doors! Lol
I just dare not remove it. She is trying to rub her eye (through the collar) on my leg or anything she can get to and she is often not in my sight and I would just hate for her to do any damage to the stitches or whatever. Thanks for the thought though.
Aw bless her, if she's trying to rub it then best to leave on I agree. Poor girl has really been through it, but once the wound settles down and her stitches are out, she'll be back to her happy self i'm sure
