Slap a filly on the butt = Kick ?

Rant alert.

Chap who I share a field with for past week slapped my filly on the butt this morning as she was in his way and she kicked out at him apparently. My take is he walked up behind her suprised her with a slap on the butt she lept forwards with a kick of the heels.

He now in a strop saying he doesn't expect to fear for his life getting his own horse in from the field and my filly has no respect, a bad attitude and is dangerous.

Now if I walked up behind a strange hore and slapped it on the butt I'd expect a kick in the face. She didn't make contact nor on questioning him were her ears back so I feel she was just suprised.

How do I defend her honour ?
 
Good for her! If someone came up to me while I was going about my business and gave me a slap, I'd give it to them with both barrels, so I don't see why your filly shouldn't!

Sounds to me as though he's the one who needs to mend his ways, not her. Respect has to be earned...

By telling him that 4 year olds are taught in riding schools, never to walk up to a horse from behind let alone slapping it on the arse. He should think himself lucky, I know a youngster that would have branded his chest for that!
 
Nearly choked on my apple reading my horrific typo....... Hillarious though ;)

He is nearly 15 years my junior so I think I'd get rather a shocked reaction if I were to slap him on the butt ;)

Thank you for replies I did hope he was in the wrong not my Filly.

Spoke to him quietly about it being a normal horse reaction and he still maintains it was rude and bad mannered and he doesn't like her attitude. I think he will give her a wide berth from now on which is a relief :D
