Sleep Well My Lovely

Well after returning from a rather wonderful holiday in the States a couple of days ago, we were brought back down to earth with a bump

.

My lovely little Arab mare has just been put to sleep this morning. She had twisted gut

.

I bought this little mare when she was a yearling and she was completely unhandled. Boy did she give us a run for our money in the early days, but boy did she fully repay our time spent. What a terrific little girl she turned out to be; the BEST nanny mare EVER! and was turning into a superb riding pony.

We had her for 3 years of her life and she made me smile daily. My daughter backed her last year and was coming along beautifully with her.

Such a waste of a young life

This was Jill shortly after I bought her.

And here she is in the summer of 2006.

Sleep well my little angel. You were loved deeply and will be missed terribly.

I am so sorry, it is bad enough to suffer the loss of an old horse, but to have the loss of such a youngster is even worse.

Oh so sorry to hear about your girlie

We had ours put to sleep last week with a twisted gut, its truly awful and I really feel for you.
The vet for ours said he was the third one they had put down with twisted gut last week. Its the weather apparently, warm and stormy with lots of new grass growing. We all need to keep a close eye on our horses at the moment.
