Some of you will have seen on another thread that I made the awful decision to put Polly to sleep yesterday. She had suffered from EMS for the last 4 years and unfortunately came down with laminitis again this week. I couldn’t keep putting her through it.
She was 15 and, despite her odd ways, the sweetest most loving mare you could ever wish to meet and I was the centre of her universe. I always felt that she loved me, well, as much as a horse can ‘love’ anything. I am truly heartbroken.

A photo from a few weeks ago, proof that EMS does not just occur in the fat ones 😞

So so sorry it’s clear how much you loved her and how hard you tried to give her the best possible life xxx

I'm so sorry.

I really appreciate the tight rope as Rigs is in the same position. I kept him ribby for ages, but decided that slim is good enough as I wanted him to have quality of life. If he got lami again, then I'd have him PTS as EMS is so hard to manage. I don't want him to not have a joyful life.

I am sorry for your loss.
