Is there any way to get sleeping in to one of these little lorries? Think i saw one once that said you could get in the luton but most of them look too small. What about sleeping in the horse area ?? Any ideas anyone ??

I was thinking about this the other day as i think i might stay at Milton Keynes in June. Dont think you could fit on Luton in my box.....i guess you could put a camp bed or something in the horse area but it'd be a bit smelly!!!

My ancient 3.5t lorry has a luton and it's really quite nice up there- easily sleeps 2, I dont use it oftne but have stayed away in it a few times

My friends' 3.5 ton lorry sleeps 4!
2 in the luton and 2 in the horsey bit on camp beds!
As long as you muck out. We put some Stable Fresh powder down to draw off the ammonia stench - or lay a plastic tarp down before you put your camp beds down, it's lovely.
Much better than a tent!

When I was BE Eventing (Almost 20 yrs ago now!), we only had a trailer, and while we could afford the stabling for the horse, a B&B was out of the question.
Mum and I used to sleep on camp beds in the back of the trailer. Chilly, but at least it was dry!

My friend and I share a small lorry with a day living at the back - you can just about sleep in there on a camping pad or on the seating area if your 5' 6" or under!
I have had to sleep on a camp bed in the horse area on grooming trips a couple of times and it does smell a bit but if you drink enough wine before bed that helps

Yep, we used to do it all the time and I am no youngster!
Totally scrub horse area out before you leave. Put down lots of shavings. get to competition, remove horses, sweep out horse area and leave ramp down to air. Blow up double air bed, throw duvets on top.

The Luton area has more space once you're in there than it might first seem, although it's still no luxury penthouse
The only issue if you're an inflexible crippled lump like me is trying to get up there - it involves one foot on the little hatch into the cab, then shift your other leg up onto the partition to the horse area, then try and get your other leg up there too, and then you leap like a 'demented frog' into the luton. Or fail miserably on the last step and get shoved up

My little truck carries three horses and Ihave a lovely built in bed in the back plus stove, cupboard and wardrobe. The luton is fine I have a piece of carpet that I roll out on it to make it warmer. Also have a roll of carpet that goes on the floor in the horse part.
Me and a friend slept in the truck for a whole week while at HOY NZ. I keep the floor well cleaned and a length of carpet under the back ends so that droppings generally don't make it to the floor. My floor is wooden too so can store smells too easily. I scub with very hot water and Jeyes Fluid to kil the amonia smel. Then rinse well and allow to dry.
