A mongrel is a dog of unknown parentage..or a varying mixture. A crossbreed is a dog with two pedigrre parents of differ breeds
Very cute though ♥♥♥
Hollybear that's just not the case - there is inbreeding of all dogs, or rather poor breeding from untested unproven parents. Its happenning just as much now with the crossbreeds - and it's not the case that crossbreed dogs are necessarily more healthy - how can a labradoodle for example from two potential hip dysplasia risk parents (quite possibly untested as no regulation of breeding as labradoodle isn't a breed) be guaranteed to be healthier than my pedigree dog (not a poodle or Labrador) who comes from generations of extremely low hip scored parents?! Or, how can you ethically cross a pug (a breed known for breathing problems) with another snub nosed breed such as the cavalier, to create the 'pugalier' and claim its going to be more healthy than a pure breed?
The puppies are gorgeous and I do agree that they are crossbreed rather than mongrel but actually would argue that a genuine mongrel is far likelier (due to the process of natural selection) to have what is often attributed to the designer crossbreeds - aka 'hybrid vigour'
Sorry, this just gets me wound up as there is so much breeding for money these days not considering the welfare of the dogs - and it's just as bad with crossbreeds as the more popular pedigrees![]()
Lovely pics OP, your horse looks like I feel in this heat!
As for cockerpoos, I'm all for them personally, there's so much in-breeding in pedigree dogs these days, some of them can barely function at all.
A bit of judicious crossing will probably produce much healthier, happier animals and who could resist those pups?
Oh my goodness all this serious debating over a litter of lovely puppies, they are from pedigree mum and dad if it makes any difference, and I think they are so so cute, good natured and also don't shed so allergy sufferers could have one... They are all off to new homes weekend.
Please just enjoy cute pictures no more bitching about ethics... Please..xx
Cinnamontoast well said - 50/50 chance they will shed.
