So never had a fully clipped horse before. Only did it as mare was clipper shy when I got her and now isn't when I clipped her last in Dec she was loving grooming me back so kept going until it was all off!!!
At night in a fleece
Day time rhino LW

Lot of people have said I would be mean leaving her unrugged but on dry days when it's not freezing would it be that cruel?? She is always toasty under the above rugs. Stables are totally draft free. She's welsh cob x hackney fine coated but a very good doer!!

Opinions ??

My cob is naked most of the time:D - she gets too hot under rugs even when fully clipped:D - she came in sweating at -7 in a rain sheet when fully clipped a couple fo years ago in the big freeze:rolleyes::D She has plenty of hay etc and as its easier for them to warm up than cool down rugs are the last resort for her:D she never has a stable rug on even in the snow:D her sweat rug is the most used rug she owns:D

I got some comments yesterday when I put my native x type out with no rug. It was 7-8 degrees but cloudy. He is chaser clipped so still has most of his winter coat and he just loves to roll whilst naked. He is a very good doer and quite well covered so he was absolutely fine but a couple of people including YO's non horsey husband said I was mean! I think natives need less rugging than your TB types so you can't really compare. Being naked is not that much less than a LW rug IMO.

I must be evil all ours that are rugged had them off today and went out naked, will be rugged at night for the moment does them good even if clipped to have a bit of sun and air on their backs, and they can get a proper roll.
Even if you do have to scrape the mud off afterwards.:)

Just bear in mind how windy it might be in the field but otherwise, if the horse is warm enough then much better for them to be naked
