After Oscars visit to Liphook I sent the invoice to NFU. They've said that they need a report from Liphook in order to consider the claim.

Is this normal? I'm starting to cack it slightly that they won't be paying up for his £3500 bill!

The invoice was all itemised and it was a straight forward kick in the field and it was caught early etc etc....so I'm not sure they could wriggle out of it. Or could they?

Yes that is normal.

I have just (April/May time) had a claim for emergency admission to Liphook with Colic.
It did take a while but Liphook sent me the report and i forwarded it onto NFU who promptly sent me a cheque for the full amount (- excess)

Don't panic its very normal!

I had a claim last November for my mare and they asked for a full report from the vets about all the treatment she'd had since we bought her. Again it was a new problem so not something they could wriggle out of and they paid in the end.

I got Liphook to send me the report after Leos colic and I faxed it to NFU and got the cheque on my door step the day after!! They have put my excess up to £200 now though!! Still when the bills are big £200 isn't that bad. Just remember they only pay 50% of the livery fees too so you'll still have that. Leo had livery fees and intensive care nursing fees that I had to pay 50% of!!

I have had a big claim with NFU, vet sent report, NFU sent cheque, no problems at all

It is standard, they will always need the report from a referral hospital. Liphook will be well used to doing them so i wouldn't worry.

Ive just got a claim on going with NFU at the moment - all we did was vet completed claims form, sent it back and they've been paying ever since. I just sendthem the invoices each time...:)
