Slightly overpriced? And a bit sad?

I have rode most of the schooled horses of where Paris lives, and Paris mixes very well with them, where i pay for the livery.

Sounds like she bought it from a riding school, and keeps it there now. Probably a novice rider, never owned a horse before.

I need to stop looking at that ad, it's really upsetting me

It's a good thing she isn't over here or I'd be going to get her right now! And I'm a poor student

I have been in touch with the owner and having got the registered name I discovered that Paris was born in 1983 so is in fact 27 this year. I have emailed her and told her. I also said about her condition and suggested this may be due to her age and the livery yard not feeding her properly. The seller seems a very genuine person.

I have just phoned the owner as she looks very much like my old mare that I have been trying to trace. The owner was nearly in tears to me down the phone saying that she is on full livery and is apparently getting to feeds of 16 plus and chaff everyday as well as ab lib hay. She said she brought her not that long ago for £2000 and now she has found out that she is 27 not 20 she does'nt know what to do. She also said she has recieved 17 nasty emails and horsemart have phoned her this morning to say a complaint has been made about the ad.
She was offered £400 for her by a lady last night but said she wanted more.
I told her I would phone lady back and accept the offer as I think she would be hard pushed to sell her for anymore. She did sound like a genuinely nice person and I feel a bit sorry for her now.

This is one good reason WHY people SHOULDN'T sell 'older horses' - as they can be sold ON and ON and then to people who get duped BIG STYLE!!!!

Such a sad story, but i can only see one end here!!! - if lady can't afford to keep she really she should either find sharer or give to local charity rest home............... or make horrible decission

There defo are some sh1ts in life and i hope karma gets them!!!

£2,000 for a '20' yo - they saw her coming a mile off. Oh dear... a harsh lesson learnt.

I'm glad you told her to take the £400, I hope she follows that advice and that sweet mare gets a lovely home to end her days in.

im sorry im confused you say she was nearly in tears
and has just found out shes 27.
and has had nasty emails
but then turns down 400 as she "wants more "
i dont feel sorry for her i feel sorry for the horse.
i think 400 was a bloody generous offer

Ditto the above..if she really gave a toss then she'd accept £400 and a good home considering what it will cost to see the mare right before she is fit to be seen in public!! She also wouldn't be selling the horse as a great hack for going up mountains if she actually gave a damn about its welfare! If she doesn't act soon there may be no horse left to sell and lets face it the meat man wont be interested. I know people that have bought far healthier ex racers not long off the track for £300 so she needs to get real, regardless of what she paid she needs to cut her losses before it's too late. Notice she has taken the full body shot pic off the ad, to be quite frank she's lucky not to have had welfare knocking at her door.

ahh bless poor Paris, if she is on full livery someone needs to be having serious words with that livery yard! They might be giving her plenty of feeds but have they checked her teeth are ok to actually eat it??? Poor girl hope someone nice buys her and gets her better :-)

I have heard she is now sold, not sure of the truth in that. I do feel very sorry for this lady as she has been taken advantage of and seems a nice person. Having paid 2k for Paris its a lot of money for her to lose. I think she is just totally at a loss what to do and needs support rather than backstabbing. I assume this was her 1st horse.
I have asked her to let me know what happens to Paris as I am concerned at the long term result.
I cannot afford to buy or keep any more horses as I have a selection of oldies else I would have done something myself. I hope someone will give this mare and owner the help they need.
I am happy to contribute to a fund to buy her if someone can offer her a home.
