Does anyone use a bradoon slip head with a show pelham? came across lots of pics of horses in show pelhams but hardly anyone was using the slip head?

Am thinking of showing my cob in a show pelham next season - we may be doing some county stuff, she will be 6.

Thoughts please :)

I will be using a slip head, even though you don't really need to apparently, but as you said you do need one with the rugby pelham. Just wondered why people don't use the slip head as i thought the point was to look like a double bridle?

Thank you :)

Always use the slip head! Nothing drives me more insane than seeing a show pelham, or worse a rugby pelham, without them! It looks ridiculous!

My TB has a fine head so I don't use a slip head with my show pelham as I don't want too much stuff on her face as it's too overpowering (my brow band and noseband are narrow too). It has never affected my placings at showing nor has any judge ever said anything about the lack of slip head.

If you don't want to use a slip head use a normal Pelham. A rugby Pelham id designed to be used with a slip head, not using one looks very novicey and messy.
