Slipped Disc

This weekend my dog (a very active 14/15 year old mongrel) could not lift up his tail, he can wag it from side to side but can not lift it.

We took him to the vets and he says he has slpped a disc, he gave him a anti-inflammatory injection and some pain relief and given us a 5-day supply of tablets which will bring any swelling down and act as a pain relief and told us he will be fine.

Has this ever happened to anyone's dog before - He is very active and always running and jumping so will he always have a weakness at this point and will he be able to lift his tail in the future? (sorry so many questions - but you never think to ask the vet at the time)

Thanks

My Akita once did this....her tail went completley limp...and looked rather odd...she spins around alot when playing, and I think she landed awkwardly on her bum/back my vet also suspected poss slipped disc...he gave her a steroid inj and antibiotic inj....she was fine after about 5 days...and her tail sprung up again.
Not much help.....but Hope everthing is ok for your doggi.

Thanks - I'll be keeping an eye on him. He seemed much better last night - his tails still not spung up but hopefully it will soon.

Thanks
