I've had my horse on Gastro Plus for about 5 weeks now. He's due to go onto the maintenence version soon. (TBH, I'm not really sure whether or not it's been effective but am going to stick at it).
To cut a long story short, he's been scoped numerous times, had a couple of courses of Gastroguard, been on Equitop Pronutrin for a year and I wanted to try something more natural. I'm aware though that the Gastro Plus is meant to 'treat' the ulcers (Again not sure how it does this as it doesn't stop acid production like Gastroguard), and it isn't designed to form a protective barrier / coating in the stomach like the Equitop does. I know slippery Elm is supposed to do this and thought, for a bit of extra insurance, I might try it alongside. I spoke to the Gastro Plus people who said using both together should be fine if I want. Does anyone have experience of using slippery elm or even both together? Do you give it once or twice a day and where's the best place to get it?
Thanks in advance!!
