OH has been complaining that ever since I cleaned his saddle this weekend, the saddle is too slippy and shiny (ungrateful b*gger) and that he's sliding around in it a bit much. I would normally suggest lunging lessons but annoyingly he's an excellent rider with good position and he already wears full seat suede-type breeches. I tried the saddle myself and I have to agree with him, we need more stick!

Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to make the leather more grippy without actually damaging it?

i had this problem with my new saddle,it was slightly too big and i was sliding around i found the only solution was a heather moffit saddle saver,or you could try a normal sheepskin seat saver and not clean the saddle for a while to let the leather recover.

I never saddle soap the top of my saddle for exactly this reason.

Heather Moffett Seat Saver gets a vote from me too
